Your contacts are nobody else's business
An address book is mostly personal data about other people. Here is exactly how we treat it.
An address book is an unusual thing to hand to a company. Almost everything in it is personal data about other people — people who never agreed to anything, and who trusted your contact with their number. We built GullyContacts around that fact.
Your contacts live on your device
The contact records you create or import are stored locally on the device you are using. On the web that is your browser's own storage; in the apps it is a file in the application's storage. Search, filters and the whole address book work from that local copy, offline included.
When you are signed in, an encrypted copy is also stored on our servers so your phone, laptop and browser agree with each other. That copy is what lets syncing need no setup at all: sign in, and your contacts are there.
Being precise about that encryption, because the difference matters: the sync copy is encrypted, and the key that opens it is held with your account so that signing in on a new device is all it takes. That is a deliberate trade — a design where only you hold the key would mean carrying a passphrase between devices and losing everything if you forgot it. It also means we will not tell you we could never decrypt it. What we commit to instead is below.
What we do hold
Your email address, so you can sign in and we can send verification and password reset codes, and a salted hash of your password — never the password itself. The encrypted sync copy of your contacts, and the key for it. Your billing details if you have paid. Our servers keep ordinary request logs for diagnosing faults and abuse.
We do not read your contacts, profile them, train anything on them, or hand them to anyone except where the law leaves us no choice. Nobody at Gully System browses customer address books.

No advertising, no tracking, no resale
There is no advertising business here to feed. We charge ₹999 a year, and that is the whole model — which is why we can say your address book is not a data source and mean it.
This website loads no third-party scripts, no analytics and no external fonts. The typefaces are served from our own domain specifically so that reading this page tells nobody else that you did.
Leaving is a button, not a negotiation
Export everything to vCard or CSV whenever you like — both open in Apple Contacts, Google Contacts, Outlook, Excel and Numbers. Download my data in the account screen gives you the complete copy, including the relationship history a spreadsheet cannot hold. Stopping your subscription does not lock your contacts away.
Delete my account is in the same place and needs no email to us. It erases the contacts we hold, your sign-in, your billing address and any subscription, and wipes the device you do it from. Tax invoices already issued to you are the one exception: Indian GST law requires the seller to keep them, and they carry your name and address by law. We would rather name that exception than let you discover it.
When this changes, we will say so
This page said, for a while, that contacts were never sent to us at all — which was true before sync existed. Sync shipped, so the page changed. That is the standard we hold ourselves to: when what we do changes, the page describing it changes with it, rather than quietly keeping a sentence that used to be true.
